Why Publish on the Web?

I publish information on my home page and the pages around it for several reasons:

to share my knowledge and insights in the hope that they will improve the lives of others and maybe even society as a whole;
to encourage people to communicate with me so that I can improve my own understanding and also improve the content of the pages so that they achieve their purpose more effectively;
to help me clarify and externalise my own thoughts in order to build on them.
